Research Engineer

Job Description This opening in the Advanced Research group offers a unique opportunity to engage in projects that are shaping the future of material handling. We are looking for a Research Engineer who can apply his/her knowledge and skills in support of a wide variety of foundation and solution services projects that center on automation and robotics. Particular skill sets we are interested in include familiarity with ROS, computer vision, machine learning, and control systems. The ideal candidate will be a technology advocate who can identify how robotics can be applied in our industry in ways that bring value to both internal and external stakeholders. He/she will be responsible for executing this vision through proof-of-concept development to satisfy requirements.   JOB RESPONSIBILITIES / REQUIREMENTS: Depending on experience level, responsibilities may include: Leading the discovery of automation/robotics technologies that complement our core product and services Designing and executing experiments Installing sensors and data acquisition equipment Interpreting data and developing control systems or training algorithms to demonstrate functional proofs-of-concept Coordinating with external or internal technical resources to ensure objectives are being met Must have the ability to plan, organize, and carry out technical activities, as well as communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Must be able to present technical material to technically diverse audiences. Experience with programming languages and basic electronics is helpful, as is knowledge of vehicle communication buses (Ethernet, CAN, and RS-232) and their protocols. Familiarity with some of these tools is a plus: ROS, Linux, MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, dSPACE. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
